Protecting the Lake as well as your investments as RCC residents involve a few simple practices:
- When launching or loading your boat always remove weeds to prevent infestation in the Lake.
- Curb pollutants at their source - fertilizers, household toxins, eroding soils, malfunctioning septic systems.
- Cut the amount of runoff that picks up pollutants and carries them to the waterway by minimizing the hard surfaces that create runoff.
- Capture and cleanse pollutant-carting runoff before it reaches the water - with shore land buffers, rain barrels or rain gardens.
- Consider joining the over 245 members of the Shishebogama and Gunlock Lake Association (SGLA), whose mission is to promote safe boating, water quality, public safety and the quality of life on Shishebogama and Gunlock Lakes. More information can be obtained at www.shishgunlock.org.
- Consult with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at "dnr.wi.gov" for the latest on boating and fishing regulations.
